The daily rat race is full of a multitude of tensions and worries. Did the quote go out on time? Did I leave the milk coupon for the milkman? Will I ever meet Catherine Zeta Jones??? However meeting up with friends, chit chatting about the days worries and the weather amongst other things is one of the best ways to relax. A few jibes at each other, some suggestions to think about it all helps.
I recently had the good fortune to indulge in just such a session with a found again friend at Mamagoto.
The conversation was excellent. How was the food? Well your going to have to read to find out.
We started with a cooler to allow the conversation to flow easier. I have a knack of going to places on dry days somehow so there was no booze being had.
The cooler I opted for was the lemon zest + mint lemonade. The drink was served in a high ball glass and came with a nice quantity of ice which made the drink cool yet not so cold that it wasn't nice to sip. In terms of flavor I could definitely get both the lemonade and the mint flavour through out. Something I would order again if its a no booze night.
Having heard quite a bit about the Mama Buns from the various campaigns that Mamagoto has been running I felt that one must be tried.
We opted for the Mushroom Mama bun which delivered wallops of Umami goodness with just a hint of spice from the chilli which was present inside as well as the sweetness of the onions. It was large and satisfying, eaten super quickly as both of us were extremely hungry, however it is definitely a dish I can see myself picking up and nibbling away at with a nice drink on the side while conversation flow. In the end its a small twist on a sub, however it is definitely fun.
Next up was the stir-fried udon noodles with veggies, which the server described as thick noodles with a sour spicy sauce and a portion size good for two people. She got 3 out of the 4 right with the veggies having a nice bite, paired with the noodles coated in a soy based slightly sour sauce, however for my tastes I would have prefered the spice level kicked up a few notches for sure, however people who don't like dragon breath as much as I do should be satisfied.
After such great conversation how can one not hope to end the evening on a sweet note?
For desert we opted for the brownie with icecream, (the brownie had egg) which came with the brownie slightly cold and they warmed it right up when asked to. The brownie itself was a dense fudgy square of goodness, however there were a few ice crystals in the ice cream and I hope they store it better in the future. Would that stop me from ordering this again? Fuhgeddabout it. This must be eaten again.
The service was nice and spiffy with the waiter being attentive however not hovering over our heads.
The damages for the night were Rs.1100 per head, which though a bit on the expensive side included my friend ordering a bar snack while waiting for me to come so quite reasonable to be honest.
