Its always amazing to get a warm welcome at work. That's exactly what all of us new interns got when we were taken out to lunch recently at Opretta.
ocated inside the super swish Pacific Place mall at Admiralty it was quite packed during lunch. Sandwiched between shops the door can be easily missed so do make sure you are paying attention and not lusting after all the baubles in the store windows.
As this was a working day lunch we decided to stick to the set menu of an appetizer and main course. Simple but effective and if you stay off the desert a great way to eat in moderation too. Can't over eat and fall asleep at work can we now.
While there were a few vegetarian options available, having eaten the Burrata Salad at Mercato just a few nights ago I decided to opt for the Kale Salad.
Shredded kale with parmesan cheese and a light dressing this one went down easy and made me feel super healthy while eating it. Full points for having something which makes you feel good at lunch.
The vegetarian mains though weren't in the healthy wagon by a long shot. Gnocchi in a cheesy sauce and peppered with mushrooms it was a delight to eat. The Gnocchi were nice and delicate with the sauce with parsley adding a nice depth of flavour. The mixed mushrooms brought a nice sense of umami to the dish and had me surreptitiously scooping the dregs from the bowl. Can't have office folk thinking I'm weird right?
Given the promise of its fixed menu I would certainly return for a dinner time redo to see if it can shine at other times as well.
Lunch was around 170 HKD per head not including desserts, so not exactly budget friendly but good enough for a once in a while indulgence.
