It's been close to a year since Hoppipola started its operations in Bombay. Already an established brand in Pune and Bangalore it sought to bring its fun blend of alcohol and casual board games to the city and its succeeded. With outposts in Powai, Khar and Lower Parel almost always packed to the brim on the weekends Hoppipola has become synonymous with being a fun place to go for some drinks. It helps that these drinks are reasonably priced as well.

Seasonal Buffet at JW Cafe: Oktoberfest

Seasonal Buffet at JW Cafe: Oktoberfest

When someone mentions Oktoberfest two images immediately spring to my mind. Cold jugs of German beer and cute German ladies serving them. Sexist? Definitely but that's just what you end up thinking of Oktoberfest if your exposed to only what the media wants you to think. The origins of Oktoberfest however are in the 1800s when a celebration was held to celebrate a royal wedding. Nothing like getting drunk and partying to celebrate something right?

Buffet feast @ JW Cafe, JW Marriott, Sahar

I have amazing memories of stuffing my self till I couldn't move at the Taj Buffet on many a Sunday. The Taj had a fun kids play area where the kids could be dropped off (like we invariably were) and the adults could sit around chat and have a merry time for a couple of hours. One of the key features of the buffet spread which would delight my parents was the wide variety of food available to us. At the time being able to try many cuisines from around the world brought a smile to their faces. I finally understood what my parents felt when I dined at JW Cafe recently as part of the #FTBBloggersmeet organized by the awesome founders of Fat Toxic Bawarchi a group of foodies who run their own channel over at Youtube. China Garden, Kemps Corner- Big smiles all around.

China Garden has been on my list of "I must go there soon" restaurants for the longest time now. Ideally that thought should be "I must go there again really soon" because I have been to China Garden but it feels like so long ago that I might as well have not counted it at all. So after being turned away from their doors because one of us decided to wear shorts for dinner we decided to go there again armed with jeans and appropriate foot wear.
